1903 Born on August 7th in Belleville, Kansas
1922 Graduated from the High School in OlatheKansas.
1927-1928 Assistant Instructor of English at the University of Kansas.
1928 Received a B.A. degree in English from the University of Kansas.
1928-1934 Became a faculty member of Gallaudet College and taught English and history.
1930 Received a M.A. degree in Political Science from The George Washington University.
1931 Received a M.A. degree from Gallaudet College.
1934-1940 Promoted to Assistant Professor of English and history.
1940 Received a Ph.D. degree in Political Science.
1940-1947 Assistant Editor of the American Annals of  the Deaf.
1940-1953 Promoted to Professor of English and history at Gallaudet College.
1941-1971
 
Held workshops for teachers of the deaf  in approximately 100 schools and universities in the United States.
1948-1968 Editor of the American Annals of the Deaf.
1953-1967 Professor of history and political science.
1959
 
Project Director for "Guide Lines for the  Establishment of Rehabilitation Facilities  for the Deaf."
1959 Received a special Merit Key Award from the  Kappa Gamma Fraternity.

Received Edward Allen Fay Award at the  Conference of Executives of American Schools  for the Deaf.
1962 Received a degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Gallaudet College.
1963 Project Director for "Workshop for Lutherans  on Deafness and Rehabilitation."
1963 Executive Secretary of the "International  Congress on Education of the Deaf" held in  Washington, D.C.
1963 Received "The Man of the Year" Award from  the Alpha Sigma Pi Fraternity.
1964 Received the Kappa Gamma Alumni Centennial  Award.

Attended the Fifth World Congress of the  "World Federation of the Deaf" held in  Warsaw, Poland.
1967-1971 Professor of government at Gallaudet College.
1970
 
Attended the "International Congress on  Education of the Deaf" held in Stockholm,  Sweden.
1970-1971 Acting Dean of the Graduate School,  Gallaudet College.
1971
 
Attended the Sixth World Congress of the "World Federation of the Deaf" held in  Paris, France.
1971 Died on July 31, in Paris, France while attending the WFD Congress.
