Biographical Sketch


1913                 Born on January 28th, in New York City, New York

 

1935                 Received B.A. degree from Hunter College, New York City

 

1937                 Received M.A. degree from Columbia University, New York City

 

1937-1949            Taught deaf children and counseled parents of deaf children in Cleveland, New York City, Washington, D.C., and London, England

 

1951                 Received M.S.W. from Catholic University, Washington, D.C.

 

1955-1956            Supervised of United States surplus commodity distribution for American Joint    Distribution Committee in Belgrade, Yugoslavia

 

1960-1961            Assistant Director for Jewish Social Service Agency, Washington, D.C.

 

1962-1969            Consultant to Peace Corps Volunteers on Community Development in Guatemala

 

1970-1980            Joined Gallaudet's faculty of the Sociology Department and was Associate  Professor.  In 1980 she was honored as Social Worker of the Year by the Metropolitan Washington Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, and she retired in June 1980.

This collection is composed primarily of correspondence and speeches of David Peikoff.
