Agency History

 

The National Research Council appointed Professor Herbert E. Day as chief investigator and Professor Irving S. Fusfeld assistant investigator to establish a survey of schools for the deaf in the United States to create progress in deaf education.  The survey was completed in one year starting late 1924 to analyze the education of the deaf children and see what can be done to improve.     

  

 

Scope and Content

 

The National Research Council’s collection includes approximately 850 papers.  The majority of the papers that are included in this collection are about the Committee on Survey of National Institutions for the Deaf and their correspondence, reports, publications and surveys.
