Biographical Sketch

 

            In 1897, Wallace Dickinson Edington was born on July 4 in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1902, he started attendance at Kendall School and eight years later, in 1910, he graduated from Kendall and was admitted to Gallaudet College. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Gallaudet in 1915 and went on to work as a chemist for the Department of Agriculture from 1919-1929. During this time, in 1922, he earned a master’s degree in chemistry from George Washington University. In 1940, he started work as a finance clerk at the Treasury Department and stayed on until his retirement in 1965. On March 14, 1979, he died at the age of 83.

 

Scope and Content

 

            The Wallace Edington collection consists of his work for the Gallaudet Almanac which was published in 1974 by the Gallaudet College Alumni Association.

            The collection includes clippings, diaries, forms for the 1976 Alumni Reunion with list of names, manuscripts about information for different Gallaudet sports teams, newsletters and four notebooks with information which was published in the Gallaudet Almanac in 1974.
